New Patron Information

We are part of the Northern Cache Library Consortium; your library card can also be used at the other three libraries (Smithfield, Richmond, & Newton) as long as you are in good standing. Your home base library should be the closest one to your residence.

Library Account

2 forms of ID are required to apply for a library account, such as a Driver License or government photo ID and a utility bill. Your library account includes a card that will be used to check out materials for you or your family members. Cards are not issued to individual family members.

Check-out Period

Check-out period is two weeks, unless you request an extended time which can be done under certain circumstances. Materials may be renewed if they are not on a waiting list. Renewals can be done by calling 258-5515 (leave a message if we are busy or closed).

Fines

Fines are 5¢ a day for each item overdue.

Damaged or Lost Books

Damaged or lost books or other materials: the patron will be charged replacement costs for damaged or lost materials.

Internet and Online Access

There are eight computer stations available to the public for Internet usage. All individuals under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Time is limited to 45 minutes when others are waiting. Time may be adjusted for longer use if working on assignments or taking an online test. Internet may not be used for games, gambling, or pornography. Computer usage may be monitored. Follow the link below to view the library's internet policy:

Print, Copy, and Scan

A multipurpose machine, which will print, copy, and scan, is available at a charge of 10¢ per black & white copy or print and 50¢ per color copy or print. Document scanning (to email) is also10¢.

Media Drop

The Media Drop is located next to library door for after hour book, DVD, and audio returns.

Library Board

The Lewiston Public Library is governed by a volunteer Library Board. Board members must be approved by the city council.
Meetings are on the 1st Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm, there will be exceptions.
